Seven cats, seven bad ideas

Every cat has an attack it can never lose, so “I have no weapons” is never “I am helpless”. Most of them also have an ability that should probably not be legal.

Timber! — Knocks over a small tree. Stand clear, or don't.

Longest reach of the starters. One swing can catch two cats.

Grave Dive — Digs underground and leaves a headstone. Can't bite while buried.

Thirty seconds under. The headstone means it hides you without erasing you.

Cane Toss — Throws the cane. It comes back, because it always does.

Dazzling — Looks either way. Somebody is losing health and it isn't him.

The only gaze that cuts both ways — so it has the shortest range.

The joke that became a mechanic

Three cats that hurt you by looking

Serious Cat damages whoever it stares at. Ugly Cat damages whoever stares at it. Handsome Cat does both, which is why his range is the shortest.

It is always fair

There is a grace period before any damage starts, and an unmissable warning on screen during it. Nobody loses health to something they could not see coming.

Never through a wall

Every gaze needs a clear line of sight. Break it — step behind a tree, or just look away — and the timer resets.

Old Man Cat is the prize

Roughly a one-in-four-hundred roll after a win, and he can never appear in the shop at any price. He is the rarest thing in the game on purpose.
